This week Tina is asking us for something Cold – and cold it is in Sweden now. But where I live it almost never gets below -20C. In recent years the climate has changed and our winters send us very little snow, and temperatures mostly around zero (+-0C). Gone are my childhood days when skiing was a winter joy.
For some real cold, I must go up north visiting friends or my daughter in Umeå. For many years we went to Dalarna to ski, but not anymore. So Tina, I will venture up north and to Iceland – for the real thing. In the header, Gullfoss, and I believe the coldest moment ever in my life.
My old apple tree and a Bullfinch. And yes, I do love winter – when it is Winter.
A warm house in a cold winter night is another name for paradise!

It’s too cold outside for angels to fly.

Keeping the warmth
And last, of course, the beautiful Tännforsen, Jämtland, Sweden. Our highest fall, 37 meters and 60 meters wide.
Beautiful images. -20, hmmmmm. I think -14 is the most I ever experienced. I snowed in it in Slovenia. I miss snowing but not the cold.
Cannot but agree – snowing is super but -20 tough…
A beautiful gallery again … can feel the chill. *smile
It was…cold
Vackra bilder!
Tack så mycket, Annika!
I love the waterfalls. In Alaska, too, winter is not what it used to be. The rain we get more often now really messes things up!
I understand. The rains up north in Sweden makes a mess out of the Sami people’s way of living. The reindeer cannot get their food as it rains and freezes, rains and freezes. The snow must be fluffy and cold for them to reach down to it.
Beautiful captures Anne Christine. The last photo reminds me of my time as a holiday guide in the Cango caves where there are formations which look similar to the frozen waterfalls. But the Bullfinch is a bulls-eye.
Yes, the ice do look like stalaktites and stalagmites – so you worked as a guide! I imagine the groups must have enjoyed your stories. Immensely.
It was during university holidays. I threw in some humour and read up wider than the training test they gave us. So I suppose yes they enjoyed it. I wrote a few posts about it unfortunately all in Afrikaans
And you enjoyed it as well;-D A pity I cannot read about it then.
beautiful post and awesome photos
Thank you kindly

The two photos of frozen over waterfalls were so amazing to see. Lovely post, Ann-Christine. ❤
So glad to share them, Olga!
The cold jumps out of these images. The house looks so warm in comparison – a great contrast. Same with the horses huddled together. What a beautiful landscape!
So glad you enjoyed them! Despite the cold…
Your cold photos are so lovely and calming – there’s something about the stillness of cold that is romantic. I really like the Bullfinch photo – pops of color against the white captured my attention first. But, I like all of your photos, each one draws in my attention.
You are very kind, Shelley, thank you!
I love your images!
♥ Thank you so very much for your love ♥
The bullfinch is a lovely bright spot in the landscape!
Oh, he is! And watching over his lady – eating!
These really make me shiver, Ann-Christine! Excellent images for this chilly challenge!
Brrrr…more clothes needed!
Beautiful photos. I love the solitary house in the snow. It speaks of home and warmth and safety.
It does – much needed in winter. Thanks!
Beautiful photos! Love the stunning banner photo, and the bullfinch, best. Nice!
So glad you liked them, John!
Nice post

Beautiful photographs Ann-Christine, I love the Winter light and the frozen waterfall looks amazing! 🤗💖 xxx
Pingback: How I warm up to winter – Quaint Revival
Stunningly beautiful (and cold!) images, Ann-Christine! I love your bullfinch shot and that lovely cottage in the frozen landscape. I am not surprised that you love winter. I respect it and think it is beautiful, but I don’t like being cold. I’m hoping you get more snow this winter. I think you’ll like my shots of New Hampshire, which I’ll post soon. It was the coldest place I’ve ever lived. Enjoy the weekend, too.
Thank you so much, Patti – and I don’t like being cold either – luckily I have warm clothes. I will have a look at NH! Wishing you a great week.
In many ways I am not a big fan of winter, but I am a fan of winter images and these are all very nice, Ann-Christine. And I especially like the waterfall.
Thank you, Steve. If you mean the last one, it is one of my favorite winter shots ever.
That’s the one. I really like the effect frozen falling water creates in a waterfall.
Glad you like that, so do I. Takes a lot of clothes and not too much wind to visit!
Wow – those are definitely cold, yet beautiful images
Luckily there are warm clothes to be had! Thank you!
Your old Apple tree and Bullfinch is a lovely shot, and Tännforsen looks quite something, A C!
Thank you, Sue. Some of my old favorites…
I did imagine they were, A C!
The little bird is so cute and the light in the following images are marvellous.
Glad to share some winter, Ana! Thank you!
All beautiful.
Thank you, Michael.
Gorgeous photos! I don’t like the cold, but the winter up there sure is pretty!
About what I think too – at least I don’t want to feel cold. But, there are warm clothes to be had!
Wonderful post Ann-Christine. The one-fall in the last image is breathtaking and I love your little red bird
Glad you like them, Tina. That fall is one of my old favorites.
I started out saying, “I really like….” and then I really liked them all. And the quotes are wonderful as well. 😉. May you get lots of snow and cold this winter!!
janet
Thank you, dear Janet – some winter would have been lovely!
Fabulous photos!
Thank you kindly -♥
I love the little house in the snow!!
♥
Beautiful! But -20C is really, really, really cold for me!
For me as well…but in the header we had much lower temperature in the wind – about – 50.
I just love that quote by Mehmet Murat ildan and the photo of the Bullfinch. Both are just perfect. 🙂
Glad you appreciated them – thank you!
All are stunning, but that solitary house grabs me!
There is something about its loneliness, up there in the cold, isn’t there
Yes, standing strong against the elements.
Exactly. Small but defiant.
Amazing place … amazing shots!
Teresa
Thank you – amazing places they are!
It’s a real fairytale landscape!
Love this little red birdy, and the ice shots … just wow!
Glad you liked them!
