Oh, ich erinnere mich, bin Ende der 1970er Jahre von Istanbul über Sofia nach Hause in die Schweiz gefahren. Damals gab es noch keinen Smog 😀 😀 Svara

We did not find it a problem though. Only like this on the road – not in the city.
